Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today
that it was awarded
an engineering, procurement and construction management
(EPCM) contract by
PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
for an isononanol plant located in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.
Fluor will book the undisclosed contract value
in the third quarter of 2017.
The project is part of PETRONAS’s
Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project
and the mammoth $27 billion Pengerang Integrated Complex development.
Fluor, in a consortium with Technip, is serving
* as the program management consultant for the RAPID project,
* as well as the EPCM contractor
for the utilities, interconnecting and offsites scope.
The facility will produce 250,000 tons per year of isononanol,
which is a key chemical building block in plasticizers
used in the automotive and building industries.
Facility start-up is expected in 2019.
