Chairman of Gazprom's Management Committee,
and
SIBUR's CEO,
attended the celebrations
to mark the start of construction of
Gazprom's Amur Gas Processing Plant (GPP).
The event took place in Svobodnensly District of the Amur Region.
The groundbreaking was commanded by
President Vladimir Putin
via a video conference from the Vostochny spaceport.
Amur GPP will become
the largest gas processing plant in Russia and
one of the largest gas processing facilities in the world.
The plant's annual design capacity will be up to 49 bcm,
and the GPP will also include
the world's largest helium production facility,
with an annual capacity of up to 60 mcm.
Amur GPP will produce multi-component gas mixtures
using natural gas from fields in Yakutia and the Irkutsk Region
(the gas production centres developed by
Gazprom under the Eastern Gas Programme)
through the Power of Siberia pipeline.
The products will include
methane, ethane, propane, butane,
pentane-hexane fraction and helium.
Processes at Gazprom's Amur GPP will be linked to
the future deep hydrocarbon conversion facility
currently under consideration at SIBUR.
