ABOUT ETHYLENE AND THE RECOVERY SECTION OF THE PLANT:
- Widely used in the production of consumer goods,
such as plastics or polymers,
ethylene is a hydrocarbon produced
in the petrochemical industry by steam cracking, i.e.
transformation of hydrocarbons by pyrolysis above 820°C. - The recovery section of an ethylene plant
separates and purifies cracked gas into
saleable products such as ethylene and propylene.
DETAILS
was awarded a contract by
Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE: WLK)
to provide detailed engineering and procurement services
to expand the recovery section of
Westlake’s Petro 1 ethylene plant
at its complex in Sulphur, Louisiana, USA.
Technip’s operating center in Houston, Texas, USA,
will execute the project, with support from
the Group’s office in Mumbai, India.
