Why Sorghum
- Sorghum is a high yield, nutrient use efficient
and drought tolerant crop that can be cultvated
over 80 % of the world agricutural land.
- Sorghum's rich generic diversity allows for
multiple specialized uses including the following
* Grain Sorghum
* Forage Sorghum
* Sweet Sorghum
- Sorghum required fewer nutrients and
far less water than other crops like
sugarcane or corn.
- As water resources become more valuable and
as growing populations require
more productivity from low quality land.
- Sorghum is a crop poised
to meet the growing need for both
traditional agriculture and bio-industrial processes.
- Sorghum's drought tolerance
* Heavy wax layer, smaller stomates
* Extensive root system
* Perfect flowers
* Slows or hastens maturity under stress
Chromatin Inc., USA.
- Chromatin delivers high quality sorghum seeds and
can customize sorghum to adapt to specific local conditions
and meet the product needs of various markets.
- This agreement with Aemetis is an important step in
Chromatin's commitment to market
high quality sorghum hybrids for the production of
advanced biofuels feedstock.
- Chromatin is pleased to partner with Aemetis,
who has already demonstrated that
using sorghum can provide
consideraton advantage for ethanol production.
Aemetis Inc., USA.
- By using locally grown sorghum,
Aemetis is expecting to further
* reduce its carbon footprint and
* enhance its stability of its supply chains.
California-grown sorghum has proven to be
cost competitive and energy efficient.
- Aemetis is the first global licensee of
the Cheveron Lummus Global Biofuels
ISOCONVERSION process
to produce 100 % replacement jet and diesel fuel
from plant and algal oil.
-Aemetis operates a 55 million gallon per year
renewable ethanol production in Keyes, CA, USA.
- Aemetis operates a 50 million gallon per year of
integrated chemical and fuel production facility in
Kakinada, India.
With 3 refining units
* Biodiesel is sold as a chemical in the textile and
fuel markets.
* Glycerin has multiple applications such as
a specialty chemical in paint, textile, cosmetic and
medical industries
* Edible Oil are sold into the Indian food market,
