Details
Solvay will invest EUR 75 million
to build a new 85,000 tons per year of
highly dispersible silica (HDS) plant in
Wloclawek, Poland.

About the new HDS plant
- is located in central Poland and
- is close to key energy distribution and
the new Warsaw-Gdansk highway
- will offer logistical benefits to customers in
Eastern Europe and Russia
The completion is expected in the third quarter of 2014.
Solvay's global highly dispersible silica production capacity
will increase by an additional 30 % from
* new HDS plant in Poland and
* a further capacity expansion in Qingdao, China
Series of worldwide volume expansions

to the level of 112,000 tons per year

Upon the completion of these projects,
Solvay's worldwide highly dispersible silica
annual production capacity
will stand close to 500,000 tons, doubling from pre-2010 levels.
Market for the latest generation of HDS product :
Energy-saving tires
- Among other HDS products, the new plant will produce
the latest generation of highly dispersible silica,
* used by tire manufacturers in the production of
energy-saving tires
which decreases fuel consumption by up to 70 %,
while enhancing other tire performance properties.
- Tire labelling regulation has led to four-folded increase in this latest
generation of HDS adoption over the past year.
