has commenced engineering
to expand production capacity of
polyisobutylene (PIB)
to meet its customers' needs in North America.
TPC Group Inc. uses proprietary technology to produce both
* Highly reactive polyisobutylene (HR-PIB) products
for use in lubricants and fuel additives and
* Polyisobutylene products for conventional
applications such as adhesives, caulk, sealants
and coatings.
TPC Group Inc.'s technology is unique in that
it can produce both types of products in a wide ranges of
molecular weights within the same unit.

Reason for capacity expansion
- The need for capacity expansion is driven by
the growing demand for HR-PIB due to
the upcoming changes in technical standards
for lubricating oils that
favor use of HR-PIB based dispersants,
- as well as an increasing demand for
the wide variety of other end uses including
automotive sealants and industrial lubricants.

TPC Group Inc. and Polyisobutylene business
- TPC Group first entered polyisobutylene market in 2000
with the start-up of its patented process to produce
a wide range of polyisobutylene products.
- Since that time, the company has grown up significantly
through multiple expansions to become
the largest producers in North America.

Houston production facility as well as
product terminals in Houston and near Chicago, IL.
