at its US site in Chester, PA
by 20,000 tons
to become operational in 2014
with the investment in the lower double-digits Euros range.

About precipitated silica for fuel-efficient car tires
- The market growth of precipitated silica is primarily
based on the trend to use
fuel-efficient low-resistance tires.
- Precipitated silica is used as
1. stabilizing fillers in fuel-efficient tires
2. a carrier and anti-caking agent in feed and food industry
3. an additive in paints and coatings
- The use of silica in combination with silanes allows
for manufacturing tires with significantly reduced
rolling resistance saving up to 8 % of fuels
comparing to conventional car tires.
