About Teijin's new pilot plant
- The plant features Teijin's proprietary mass-production
technology for CFRTP components,
- which significantly reduced cycle times required by
molding composite products under a minute,
- enabling rapid production of
prototype and performance evaluation tests,
including complex-shaped molded products and
large components.
About Teijin's game changing technology for CFRTP
- Teijin's mass-production technology facilitates
the integrated manufacturing process from
carbon fiber to molded composite products
within one minute, the ideal time required by
automakers for vehicle mass production.
- CFRTP components, which have the potential to
realize weight reduction, are expected to find
wide-ranging applications for
automobile and other industries.
- They are also highly reclycable since
used thermoplastic resin can be reheated and
remolded into new shapes.

Teijin's Target
- With a new pilot plant, Teijin aims to accelarate the
collaboration with automakers worldwide,
- as well as create markets for other applications.
- Teijin is aiming at annual sales of 150 to 200 billion yens
(USD 1.8-2.4 billion) for fiber composite products
by 2020.
- Continue development are being spearheaded
through a collaborative effort involving
* the Japan-based Teijin's Composite Innovation Center,
Teijin's R&D hub for composites business
* the US-based Teijin's Composite Application Center,
a technical center opened in April 2012 in Michigan, USA.
