Solvay announced today
it is doubling the production capacity for
specialty fluorinated aliphatic derivatives
at the plant in Salindres, France,
to keep up with the growing demand in strategic markets,
such as energy storage, electronics and pharmaceuticals.
The Group is investing over EUR 10 million in the plant to
double the capacity of the fluorinated aliphatic derivatives production line.
The project's first stage is currently underway and
the first additional volumes will be available
this month (September 2012).

Products, Uses and Applications
The Group decided to double production capacity for
* triffic acid (TA)
* triffic anhydride (TAA) , as well as for
* Lithium bis (trifluoromethanedufonlyl) imide (LiTFSI),
to meet the rapidly expanding requirements of
1. electronic applications such as
antistatic applications for
* flat screens ,
* ionic liquids and
* liquid crystals
2. the battery market ( for automobiles and computers)
3. the pharmaceuticals market
Solvay's Global Business Unit Rhodia Aroma Performance :
Crop Protection, Health & Electronics Business
The capacity expansion is strengthening the role of Salindres plant
as a major production site for
innovative fluorinated apliphatic derivatives.
It will bring Solvay in a better position to support
the growth of customers in all regions.
